A 22 year old mechanical worker at a printing press sustained sharp cut injury resulting in complete amputation of both the hands at mid palmar level.
It took almost 15 hours to reimplant both hands successfully. Priority was given to right hand than left hand. Patient is now doing almost all his daily work and has returned to his work place.
This was the first double hand reimplantation in Odisha.
It is one of the various examples of challenging & complex limb injury patient treated successfully at this hospital.
